Last year our daughter fell in love with the Supergirl costume from the Lillian Vernon catalog, priced at about $30. Instead, we found the same costume, worn once, on eBay for under $10. This year we expect to sell it for that price and get our money back. Also, instead of buying shoe covers to go with the costume, we bought some red ankle boots (again on eBay) that could be used all winter on their own.
This year she wants to be Red Riding Hood. I found a regular red hooded cape on eBay that she will be able to wear as a coat throughout the fall. And next year, back to eBay we go, to resell the cape and "rent" something that, at least to us, is new!
