Hanging Paper Pumpkins

Hanging Paper Pumpkins - two hanging paper pumpkins I love these pumpkins because they have a lovely vintage feel to them. When hung, they cast pretty shadows and show many dimensions whilst gently spinning. This is a great craft for all ages for the entire autumn season.

Total Time: 45 minutes

Supplies:

construction paper (orange, green, brown)
ruler
pencil
scissors or paper cutter
binder clip
stapler
string

Steps:

Mark the shorter side of your construction paper at every inch.

Hanging Paper Pumpkins - make a mark every inch along the short side of the construction paper

Cut into long 1" wide strips.

Now trim them so you have two, 11" strips, two 9" strips, two 7" strips, and one 6" strip. (To make a smaller one, just follow this formula and subtract an inch or two.)

Stack your strips so they are in this order: 11", 9", 7", 6", 7", 9", 11". The shortest one will be sandwiched in the middle. Make sure they're lined up at one end, then secure with binder clip.

Staple all the strips together at the top.

Now line up the other end so it's flush, then staple it shut.

Fold the green paper in half, then draw a leaf shape at the fold.

Cut out then open up.

Do the same for the stem on brown paper, but cut out a plain long rectangle.

Pinch the leaf onto the pumpkin, then pinch the stem on top.

Staple them into place vertically.

Use your pencil to curl the leaves upward.

Pull your string through the loop of the stem. Hang your pumpkin.

How neat! Just in time for all of our fall weather.
Your instructions/pictures are always so clear and easy to follow.

I think you should be working for some of these companies who produce products that really need clear instructions and yet their instructions all look like "Greek".

Isn't it awful when you want to make something that has instructions and they're just terrible? A lot of my work here is trial and error so I have a lot of deleted photos, and steps remastered.

I find it fun for myself and hopefully for people reading! :)
